About the role

Appfire is looking for a Senior Payroll Partner to oversee and execute Appfire’s global payroll operations for approximately 230 employees across five countries (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, and Germany). You will report to the Finance Operations Manager and be a finance team member. 

You can remotely in the US from anywhere in Eastern or Central time.

Your everyday tasks will include:

  • Oversee and review payroll processing for all current regions (US, CA, UK, FR, DE) in collaboration with ADP, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Manage and maintain the integration between Workday and ADP, identifying and addressing issues proactively.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive payroll policies and procedures to ensure internal control compliance and support public company readiness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement payroll processes for new acquisitions, including setup in ADP and integration with Workday.
  • Review and approve all employee expense reports to ensure compliance with company policies and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and compliance for stock-based compensation, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external advisors as needed.
  • Drive process improvements to standardize, simplify, and automate payroll-related tasks, with a focus on scalability and efficiency.
  • Manage payroll tax registrations, filings, and withholding requirements in coordination with ADP and external consultants.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, delivering clear and timely communications about key payroll updates and processes.
  • Monitor and evaluate key performance metrics to identify opportunities for optimization within global payroll operations.
  • Support audits, including 401(k) and other regulatory or financial audits, by providing necessary payroll data and documentation.

Skills and experience you'll need to succeed:

  • Extensive Payroll Expertise: At least 7 years of experience managing payroll, with 5+ years working with ADP or similar platforms; Workday HRIS experience strongly preferred.
  • Global Payroll Knowledge: Deep understanding of global payroll operations, including compliance and best practices across multiple countries.
  • Stock-Based Compensation: Experience with payroll reporting and compliance for stock-based compensation.
  • Expense Report Oversight: Familiarity with reviewing and approving employee expense reports, ensuring policy compliance.
  • Implementation and Integration: Proven track record in implementing payroll solutions and managing integrations between payroll systems and HRIS platforms.
  • Analytical and Process Improvement Skills: Strong ability to identify inefficiencies, analyze data, and implement automation and process improvements.
  • Audit Support: Experience supporting payroll-related audits, including 401(k) and tax compliance.
  • Acquisition Integration: Knowledge of payroll integration processes for newly acquired entities.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative mindset to work effectively in a remote environment.
